Football, or is it [insert new name here]?

I had this conversation with eevee, why is football football? I mean, you only use your feet for punts, and kickoffs. In soccer(football), you kick the ball to move it, only goalies can use their hands, so calling it football makes sense. like baseball, you hit a ball, and run around bases. Let's think of a name for football~ List 'em off~

1: Handball
2: Catch 'n Tackle
3: Ow.

Well, it seems like American Football is alot like rugby except more brutal so maybe Extreme Rugby!

I believe the name comes from the football itself, seeing as how it is around a foot long, though I'm not entirely sure. It is fun to play either way.
